Car Transport Guide Your Guide To Auto Transport

Here is some Car Transport Information before moving your car.

US DOT

Check the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) website www.safer.com for the license and record associated with the car transport company. A car transporter must be licensed.

BBB

Check the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website: www.bbb.org and check for the record, rating and complaints associated with the car transport company.

References

Before you hire a company to transport your car, speak with references, find out if the car was delivered without problems. If problems did arise, how were they handled? You will need to know if anyone was unhappy with the service and what, if anything, the transport company did to correct the problem (s).

Insurance

Speak with your auto insurance agent to determine if you will need any supplemental insurance to protect your vehicle during the transportation. You should be able to purchase the insurance from your agent or from the car transport company.

Prepare your car for transport

Remove personal items from the car, as most car transport companies will not be liable for anything missing. Wash your car and take photographs to record the condition of the car prior to releasing it to the car transport company.

Before accepting delivery of your car at the destination, compare the condition and note any exceptions (and take additional photographs to record any damages) on the documents before accepting the car.
